Renaming an MSDS Format

Note: This feature is available only to administrators.

Rename an MSDS format when its current name is incorrect or out of date. After you save the new MSDS format name, all products using that MSDS format show the format's new name on their Primary Information displays.

To rename an MSDS format:

Starting at the MSDS Formats page (How do I get there?), do the following:

  1. Click the MSDS format you want to rename.

Rename and Delete links appear in the box on the left.

Note: Any MSDS format showing an IHS logo () is an IHS-supplied format and cannot be renamed (or deleted).

  2. In the box on the left, click Rename.

The format's name appears in a New Format Name field.

  3. In the New Format Name field, enter the format's new name.

  4. Click Save.

The format's new name is now saved. All products using this MSDS format now show the format's new name on their Primary Information displays.
